You’ll find beef additives in everything from Chicken McNuggets, Wendy’s Grilled Chicken Sandwich and even KFC’s Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Beef additives will often be described as “essence” or “extract” on the ingredients list.

2. Worcestershire Sauce

Worcestershire Sauce maybe a much-loved condiment in England, but did you know that it’s actually made from dissolved fish? We’re not kidding. The sauce is made from liquefied anchovies that are soaked in vinegar until they’ve completely dissolved – and that includes their bones! Nice.

We’re about to kill a childhood favourite here. Jellybean lovers, you might be best moving onto the next fact, as this sweet treat gets its shine from shellac – which is a wood finishing material. It is often used to shine up everything from wooden furniture to AK-47 guns and guitars. Wait, it gets worse. Shellac is made from bug excrement. Yummy!

We bet you love a good bit of peanut butter – which is full of healthy fats and a good source of protein. What’s not to love? Well, we don’t love the fact that there is an average of 30 insect fragments per 100 grams of peanut butter, including rodent hairs.
