Coca-Cola has been on the market 128 years, dating back to 1886, and is now one of the biggest drinks in the world. In celebration of this tasty beverage and its history, we take a look back at some of the interesting facts behind the carbonated soda and the brand.
1. One Coke Per Day
If you drank 1 Coca-Cola brand per day, it would take you 9 years to try them all. It has 3,500 drinks, and 500 brands.
2. Net Worth
Coca-Cola is one of the biggest brands in the world – which is why we’re not too shocked to learn that it has an estimated worth of $74 billion. The combined worth of Pepsi, Starbucks, Red Bull and Budweiser is $50 billion. That puts things in perspective for you, doesn’t it!
3. The Moon and Back
If you put every drop of Coke ever produced into an 8 ounce bottle and laid them end-to-end, they could reach the moon and back over 2,000 times. Now that’s a lot of Coke.

When three people tried to sell Coke’s secret ingredients to Pepsi, they only went and reported the culprits to both Coca-Cola and the FBI. Don’t let anyone tell you Pepsi isn’t an honest company.
6. The Original Recipe
While we’re on the subject of the drink’s recipe, it was originally marketed as a cure for various ailments, including poor sexual libido. However, John Pemberton, the soda’s creator, was forced to take out the alcohol following prohibition laws. It also orignally contained cocaine, but the substance was removed from the drink in 1903, despite the fact the drug wasn’t outlawed until 1914.
7. Coke-less Countries
There are only two countries on the planet that don’t sell Coca-Cola: Cuba and North Korea. They’re missing out!
Coca-Cola was kind to servicemen in the Second World War, as the owner made sure “to see that every American in uniform gets a bottle of Coca-Cola, wherever he is and whatever it costs the Company”.
9. Dr. Pepper
Depending on the location in America, Dr. Pepper is bottled by both Coca-Cola and Pepsi. How strange!
Coca-Cola became a bit of laughing stock when they released their Dasani bottled water in the UK, as their advertisements referred to is as “bottled spunk” – which is the UK equivalent to the word “sperm”. Yeah, we don’t fancy drinking that any time soon.
